Importing from another password manager

Move your passwords, passkeys and notes to Vautir from 1Password, LastPass, Bitwarden, Dashlane, Keeper, browsers and more.

Vautir imports the files other password managers export. It reads the file on your device, so nothing leaves it unencrypted.

How

  1. Export from your old app. Each app’s steps are in our switch guides.
  2. In Vautir, choose Import and pick the file.
  3. Vautir lists what it found, what it can’t bring, and possible duplicates. Choose Import to add them.
  4. Delete the export file: it holds your passwords unencrypted.

After importing

In the browser extension, the import page then offers two things:

  • Turn off your browser’s own password saving, so it doesn’t offer to save logins alongside Vautir. In Chrome, Edge and Firefox, Vautir switches it off for you, and asks for that one permission only when you click. In Safari, the page gives the steps.
  • The passwords to change. It says how many of your passwords are weak, and how many are used on more than one site, and Open Security lists them.

What comes along

Logins with their websites, usernames, passwords and one-time codes; notes, cards, identities, bank accounts and more; tags, favorites and history. Files kept with items come from 1Password, KeePass and Vautir’s own export with files. From a Credential Exchange file, passkeys come too, and on iPhone, iPad and Mac with iOS or macOS 26, another app can hand them over without a file.

What doesn’t come across

Files from apps whose exports leave them out, passkeys outside Credential Exchange files, and items in your old app’s trash. The import report lists everything left behind, item by item.
