How to export passwords from Chrome, and move them safely

Export from Chrome

1. Open chrome://password-manager/settings.
2. Choose Export passwords, and confirm with your computer’s password.
3. Chrome saves a CSV file.

Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera, Arc and Chromium work the same way, from their own password settings.

Handle the file carefully

The file holds every password in plain text. Import it straight away, then delete it, and empty the trash.

Import into Vautir

Choose Import in Vautir and pick the file. Vautir shows what it found before adding anything, and flags duplicates.

Then turn off the browser’s own saving

Otherwise Chrome keeps offering to save passwords alongside Vautir. In chrome://password-manager/settings, turn off Offer to save passwords.
