Switch from Apple Passwords and Safari

Export a CSV file, or a Credential Exchange file from Apple Passwords and Safari, import it in Vautir, and keep everything. It takes a few minutes.

Step by step

In Apple Passwords and Safari

  1. 1

In the Passwords app on a Mac, choose File › Export All Passwords. In Safari: File › Export › Passwords.

  2. 2

Or export a Credential Exchange file, which brings passkeys too.

In Vautir

  1. 3

In Vautir, open Settings › Import, and choose Apple Passwords and Safari.

  2. 4

Choose a CSV file, or a Credential Exchange file. It's read on your device: nothing is sent anywhere unencrypted.

  3. 5

Check the summary of what will come over, then confirm.

  4. 6

Delete the export file, and empty the trash it went to: it holds your passwords in the clear.

Questions

Is it safe to export from Apple Passwords and Safari?

The export file isn't encrypted, so keep it on your own computer, import it straight away, and delete it afterwards. Vautir reads it on your device.

Will I lose anything?

Nothing that the export holds. Vautir lists what it will bring before you confirm.

Can I keep using Apple Passwords and Safari while I try Vautir?

Yes. Importing changes nothing in the other app. Many people run both for a week, then cancel.

Leave Apple Passwords and Safari in minutes.

Free forever for unlimited passwords and devices. No card needed.
